New Delhi: Streambox Media, a media-tech startup backed by Micromax Informatics and prominent investors like Nikhil Kamath and Stride Ventures, is poised to disrupt the Indian television market with the launch of “Dor” – a groundbreaking subscription-based TV service. This innovative offering combines a high-performance 4K QLED TV with a comprehensive entertainment package, including SVOD and AVOD streaming platforms, live channels, gaming, news, and more, all for a single monthly fee.
Starting December 1, 2024, consumers can purchase the 43-inch Dor TV through Flipkart for an activation fee of Rs 10,799 (including the first month’s subscription) and a monthly subscription of Rs 799. 55-inch and 65-inch variants are expected to launch in early 2025.
Dor aims to address the evolving needs of Indian consumers, particularly Gen Y and Zoomers, who prioritize flexibility and value. By offering a subscription model, Dor eliminates the high upfront cost of purchasing a smart TV and subscribing to multiple content providers.
“The home entertainment landscape is undergoing a massive shift towards subscription and leasing models,” says Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax Informatics. “Dor caters to this trend, providing a market-disrupting solution that aligns with the preferences of today’s consumers.”
Powered by the indigenously developed Dor TV OS, the service provides a seamless and unified viewing experience, eliminating the need to navigate between different devices and apps. This user-friendly interface, coupled with hyper-personalization and intuitive content discovery, sets Dor apart in the crowded smart TV market.

“The Indian connected TV ecosystem is booming, but fragmented services and high costs are holding back many potential users,” explains Anuj Gandhi, founder and CEO of Streambox Media. “Dor bridges this gap by integrating advanced AI technology, diverse content platforms, and our proprietary Dor OS into an affordable subscription model.”
Dor’s value proposition extends beyond its affordable pricing. The service includes a four-year warranty, software upgrades, and product upgrade options, ensuring consumers have access to the latest technology and features.
“Dor democratizes access to premium entertainment by significantly lowering the entry barrier for Indian households,” states Romil Ramgarhia, COO of Streambox Media. “We are confident that Dor will capture a significant market share by offering a compelling combination of affordability, convenience, and cutting-edge technology.”
With its unique subscription model, Dor is poised to revolutionize how Indians consume entertainment, making high-quality smart TVs and content accessible to a wider audience.
