New Delhi: In a shocking development that has sent ripples through the Tamil entertainment industry, veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan has quit as the host of the popular reality show, Bigg Boss Tamil.
Haasan announced his departure from the show on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
In his letter attributed to Viewers of Bigg Boss Tamil, Hasaan claimed his decision came in the wake of “prior cinematic commitments.” He further thanked the audience, the contestants team at Vijay TV in his letter.

The Controversy
Even before Hasaan decided to exit the show, there had been multiple controversies shrouding around him.
Haasan had been the face of Bigg Boss Tamil since its inception in 2017, and his charismatic presence was instrumental in the show’s immense success. However, the ongoing seventh season has been marred by several controversies, with the actor facing backlash for his decisions on certain issues. The most prominent among these is the elimination of contestant Pradeep through a ‘red card’, a move that sparked widespread outrage.
Additionally, speculations about a potential affair between contestants Nixen and Aishu have also added to the controversy surrounding the show. Social media has been abuzz with criticism of Haasan’s handling of these situations, with many questioning his judgment as a host.
The mounting pressure seems to have taken a toll on Haasan’s political image as well. With state elections looming, the actor-politician was said to be wary of the negative impact these controversies could have on his political career.

Speculations are now rife that popular actor Silambarasan TR, better known as Simbu, could be roped in for the role. Simbu, a versatile actor with a huge fan following, has the potential to bring a fresh perspective to the show.
However, replacing a seasoned host like Kamal Haasan will be no easy task. Whether Simbu can successfully step into Haasan’s shoes and captivate the audience remains to be seen.
