Flying Beast Takes Flight on Shark Tank: Funding or Marketing Stunt?

Flying Beast pitches his sports nutrition brand, Beastlife, on Shark Tank India. Vineeta Singh questions his motives: funding or marketing? Controversy ensues.
Gaurav Taneja pitches his sports nutrition brand, Beastlife, to the sharks. But is he seeking funding or simply leveraging the platform for marketing?

New Delhi: Popular YouTuber and fitness influencer Gaurav Taneja, known as “Flying Beast,” is set to make waves on the upcoming season of Shark Tank India. In a recently released promotional clip, Taneja and his co-founder Raj Gupta pitch their sports nutrition brand, Beastlife, to the panel of “sharks” – prominent investors.

Taneja’s massive online following, with 3.6 million Instagram followers and 9.27 million YouTube subscribers, is a significant asset. Beastlife offers a diverse range of products, including supplements, protein powders, and muscle gainers, catering to the growing fitness market.

However, the clip sparked debate among viewers. Vineeta Singh, CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, posed a poignant question: “You can earn up to Rs 1 crore in an hour; why are you here on the show?” This query highlighted the question of whether Taneja’s appearance was primarily a genuine pursuit of investment or a strategic marketing move to leverage the show’s immense popularity.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Taneja was seen recording a reel during his pitch, urging viewers to “like, share, and comment.” This action further fueled the perception that the appearance was more about social media engagement than securing funding.

Despite these speculations, it’s worth noting that Ghazal Alagh and Varun Alagh, the founders of Mamaearth and former Shark Tank India investors, have already backed Beastlife, demonstrating their confidence in the brand’s potential.

Shark Tank India Season 4, featuring a revamped panel of sharks including Kunal Bahl, Varun Dua, and Viraj Bahl, is set to premiere on January 6, 2025, on SonyLIV. Taneja’s appearance is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated moments of the season, promising to generate significant buzz and intrigue.
