New Delhi: In a move that promises to revitalize Urdu journalism, two annual scholarships were announced during the recent e4m Urdu Journalism 40 Under 40 Summit and Awards. Held at the prestigious India International Centre in New Delhi, the summit brought together prominent figures from the Urdu journalism world, literature, and the wider Urdu community.
The highlight of the summit’s closing ceremony was the recognition of 40 exceptional young talents in the field of Urdu journalism. Adding further momentum, senior journalist Bhupendra Chaubey (Editor-in-Chief, TheSquirrels.in) and renowned media lawyer Sudhir Mishra announced the establishment of annual scholarships valued at ₹25,000 each. These scholarships aim to empower and nurture aspiring Urdu journalists, starting next year.
“Urdu journalism plays a vital role in India’s media landscape,” emphasized Chaubey while announcing the scholarships. “This initiative is designed to support emerging talents who will carry forward its rich heritage.”

Sharing a passion for the Urdu language, Sudhir Mishra echoed Chaubey’s sentiments. He acknowledged the financial difficulties often faced by Urdu journalists and stated, “This scholarship is a small but significant step towards ensuring the continued growth of Urdu journalism.”
The event, a celebration of Urdu journalism’s revival, also featured discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing Urdu media in the current digital age. Distinguished personalities participated in these insightful panels, offering their perspectives on the future of Urdu journalism.
