New Delhi: In a move that mirrors Netflix’s recent policy changes, Amazon Prime Video has announced it will begin restricting password sharing among users starting from January 2025. This shift in policy aims to discourage the widespread practice of account sharing amongst friends and family, a move that has been adopted by several other streaming platforms in an effort to increase individual subscriptions.
Under the new rules, Amazon Prime accounts will be limited to a maximum of five devices. Furthermore, simultaneous streaming will be restricted to a maximum of two televisions at any given time.

Indian users will have the option to manage their device usage through account settings. However, those exceeding the permitted limits will be required to purchase additional memberships.
This move by Amazon Prime is expected to have a significant impact on the company’s revenue, as it aims to incentivize individual subscriptions and combat the loss of revenue associated with widespread account sharing.
