New Delhi: In a surprising move, quick-commerce grocery delivery startup Zepto has announced the departure of its HR head, Martin Dinesh Gomez, and the subsequent reimagining of the role into a Chief Culture Officer position. Stepping into this newly formed role is Chandan Mendiratta, who currently serves as Zepto’s Chief Brand Officer.
Gomez, who resigned in September, is currently serving his notice period. This change comes as Zepto, known for its rapid grocery delivery services, seeks to further solidify its internal culture and employer branding. Mendiratta, with his extensive experience in brand building and marketing, is tasked with fostering a strong company culture and enhancing employee engagement.
Prior to joining Zepto in January 2024, Mendiratta held key positions at ClassPlus as Chief Growth Officer and Zomato as Head of Brand Marketing. His expertise in understanding consumer behavior and building brand loyalty will be instrumental in shaping Zepto’s internal culture.

A company spokesperson refuted recent media reports suggesting that co-founder Aadit Palicha would assume the HR responsibilities. This clarification underscores Zepto’s commitment to establishing a dedicated leadership role focused on company culture.
The announcement comes on the heels of Zepto securing USD 350 million in funding last month, a move aimed at increasing domestic ownership in anticipation of a potential IPO in 2025. With its ambitious growth plans and focus on building a strong internal culture, Zepto is poised to further disrupt the Indian grocery delivery market.
