New Delhi: In a significant development in the Indian media landscape, TV Today Network has announced the closure of its Ishq 104.8 FM radio broadcasting operations. The decision, approved by the company’s board, will see the closure of its stations in Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata within the next six months.
The company attributed the decision to “the state of the industry, its dynamics, and the evolution of the FM Radio Broadcasting business.” The radio segment, despite generating Rs 16.2 crore in revenue during the fiscal year 2023-24, incurred a substantial net loss of Rs 19.5 crore. This represents a significant drain on the company’s overall profitability.

Ishq 104.8 FM, known for its romantic music format, has undergone several transformations since its inception. Initially launched as a talk-based station targeting female audiences, it evolved into a filmi music channel under the OYE FM brand before adopting its current identity in 2016.
This closure marks a significant shift in the Indian radio industry, reflecting the evolving media consumption habits of the audience and the increasing challenges faced by traditional broadcast media.
