The ideal candidate for this position will bring a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience in video editing, with a specific focus on news and journalistic content. FPJ is looking for an individual with a strong understanding of the technical and creative aspects of video production, from conceptualization to final delivery. Proficiency in both English and Hindi is essential, reflecting the diverse audience FPJ serves. Furthermore, the role demands flexibility in working hours, as the selected candidate will be expected to work in shifts, including weekends, to align with the demands of a 24/7 news cycle.

Technically, the successful applicant should be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, the industry-standard video editing software, and possess familiarity with After Effects for motion graphics and special effects. Experience in color grading and correction is also highly desirable, as is the ability to create compelling YouTube thumbnails using Canva. A solid grasp of newsroom practices, journalistic storytelling techniques, and ethical considerations is paramount. While fluency in Hindi and English is a must, knowledge of Marathi will be considered a valuable asset.

The Video Editor’s responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including interpreting visual storyboards and paper edits, ensuring the logical sequencing of visual elements, and managing multiple projects concurrently. Collaboration is key in this role, as the editor will work closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom staff to prioritize tasks and streamline video production. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work are essential attributes.
