New Delhi: Dr. Bhaskar Das, a prominent figure in the Indian media industry with a career spanning over four decades, passed away on January 15, 2024, after a prolonged battle with cancer. His contributions to the industry, particularly his leadership roles at leading media houses like Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL), Zee Media Corporation, and Republic TV, were significant and far-reaching.
As the former president of response at BCCL, Dr. Das played a crucial role in the company’s growth and transformation. During his six-year tenure as President, BCCL’s turnover surged from Rs 1560 crore to Rs 4200 crore. He was instrumental in launching Mumbai Mirror, a strategic move to strengthen The Times of India’s position in the competitive Mumbai media market. Under his guidance, Mumbai Mirror quickly became a leading newspaper in the city.
