New Delhi: In a strategic move that promises to reshape the Indian entertainment industry, Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of Serum Institute of India, has acquired a 50% stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. The investment, valued at ₹1,000 crore, reflects Poonawalla’s confidence in the growing Indian entertainment market and Dharma’s ability to produce compelling content.

Karan Johar, who will retain the remaining 50% ownership, will continue to lead the creative vision of Dharma Productions. Apoorva Mehta, the current CEO of Dharma, will remain in his role and work closely with Johar to oversee the strategic direction and operational excellence of the organization.

The partnership aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality content in India and leverage Dharma’s rich legacy in storytelling. Poonawalla’s strategic acumen and resources are expected to complement Dharma’s creative prowess, enabling the production house to explore new platforms and formats.
