Zomato is cracking down on misleading food photos. AI-generated images are out!

New Delhi: In a move to prioritize consumer trust and authenticity, food delivery giant Zomato has announced a strict crackdown on AI-generated food images used on restaurant menus. The decision comes in response to a growing number of customer complaints regarding the discrepancy between the visually appealing AI-rendered dishes and the actual food served.

Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal took to social media to express the company’s stance on the matter. While acknowledging the potential benefits of AI in various aspects of the business, Goyal emphasized that its application to food imagery is misleading and unacceptable.

“We believe in transparency and delivering a genuine experience to our customers,” Goyal stated. “Using AI to manipulate food images creates a false representation and undermines trust.”

To address this issue, Zomato will be implementing stringent guidelines for image uploads and deploying advanced technology to detect and remove AI-generated content from the platform.

In a bid to support its restaurant partners, Zomato has also extended assistance with professional food photography. This initiative aims to help restaurants create visually appealing and accurate representations of their dishes, further enhancing the overall user experience.

The move by Zomato is expected to have a significant impact on the food delivery industry, setting a new standard for authenticity and transparency. By taking a proactive approach to address customer concerns, Zomato has positioned itself as a leader in prioritizing consumer trust and satisfaction.
