New Delhi: Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has announced the promotion of its chairman of Global Television and chief operating officer (COO), Ravi Ahuja, to the role of chief executive officer (CEO) effective January 2, 2025. This comes as Tony Vinciquerra, who has served as SPE’s Chairman and CEO since 2017, steps down from his current position.
Vinciquerra will remain with the company as non-executive chairman in an advisory capacity until the end of December 2025. His leadership during his tenure at SPE has been marked by significant decisions, including the acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021, the divestiture of most of SPE’s international cable networks, and the strategic decision not to enter the competitive streaming market with a general entertainment service.

Ahuja, who joined SPE in 2021, has been instrumental in overseeing all production businesses for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and the studio’s India operations. Prior to his role at SPE, he held leadership positions at Walt Disney Television, Fox Networks Group, and Virgin Entertainment Group.
In his new role as President and CEO of SPE, Ahuja will report to Sony Group Corporation’s Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida, as well as President, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki.
Yoshida expressed his confidence in Ahuja’s ability to lead SPE through the challenges of the current media and entertainment landscape and position the company for future growth. Sources and related content
