To ensure inclusivity for people with hearing impairments, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has called on all private satellite TV channels to broadcast key Republic Day events with sign language interpretation and closed captions. This initiative aims to make the President’s Speech on January 25th and the Republic Day Parade commentary on January 26th accessible to all citizens.

Key Details:

  1. Inclusive Telecast by Doordarshan:
    • President’s Speech (January 25, 2025):
      Doordarshan will telecast the Hon’ble President’s address with sign language interpretation on DD Bharati/DD News from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
    • Republic Day Parade (January 26, 2025):
      DD News will broadcast the event with sign language interpretation and commentary from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM (tentatively).
  2. Free Feed for All Channels:
    The Doordarshan feed, including sign language interpretation and English/Hindi closed captions, will be made available free of cost.
  3. Appeal to Private Broadcasters:
    Recognizing the media’s role in driving societal progress, the Ministry urges all private TV channels to utilize this feed for live telecasts. This effort ensures that people with hearing impairments can meaningfully connect with these national celebrations.

A Call for Inclusivity:

This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to making national events accessible to all sections of society, fostering unity, and celebrating diversity.
