New Delhi: In a significant development for the Indian digital media landscape, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary, Sanjay Jaju, announced plans to launch Prasar Bharati’s much-awaited OTT platform at the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The prestigious film festival is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28 in Panaji, Goa.
The upcoming OTT platform is poised to offer a diverse range of content, including live channels, archival footage, and original programming. Jaju emphasized the platform’s focus on family-friendly content, aiming to provide a wholesome viewing experience for audiences of all ages.
“The content creator will retain the Intellectual Property (IP) rights, and we will explore a revenue-sharing model,” Jaju explained during an interaction at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai. “We are creating a marketplace to showcase our vast archive of over 2,000 titles, including a treasure trove of heritage photos.”

Prasar Bharati’s foray into the OTT space comes at a time when international streaming giants dominate the Indian market. However, the public broadcaster aims to carve a niche for itself by offering high-quality, family-oriented content that aligns with Indian cultural values.
