New Delhi: Streaming giant Netflix has strengthened its India team with the appointment of Mahima Kaul as its new Director of Public Policy. Kaul, a seasoned industry veteran, brings a wealth of experience in the digital and policy landscape to her new role.
In a LinkedIn post, Kaul expressed her excitement about joining Netflix and leading public policy initiatives in India. She highlighted the dynamic nature of the OTT and streaming sector, emphasizing the significant policy challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Prior to joining Netflix, Kaul held the position of Director of Public Policy for APAC at Bumble. During her tenure, she was instrumental in shaping the company’s public policy agenda across the region and spearheaded initiatives such as the “Brunch with Bumble” series. Her work also extended to research on online gender-based violence in India.

Kaul’s career trajectory includes a significant stint at Twitter, where she progressed from Head of Public Policy & Government Partnerships to Director. Her professional journey began at the Center for Policy Research, and she has since collaborated with numerous prominent organizations, including Ventana Productions, Hendrick Communications, Orion Publishing, Media Strategy, The Indian Express, NewsX, Video Volunteers, Digital Empowerment Foundation, Australia India Institute, TV News International, The Open Communication Foundation, and Observer Research Foundation.
With Kaul’s appointment, Netflix aims to further solidify its position in the Indian market and navigate the evolving regulatory landscape for OTT platforms.
