New Delhi: In a groundbreaking announcement at the Nvidia AI Summit India, Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani declared that India is on the cusp of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking alongside Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Ambani highlighted the nation’s youthful population and raw talent as key drivers behind this transformative potential.
“India will be one of the biggest intelligence markets,” Ambani stated, emphasizing the country’s average age of below 35. He underscored the synergy between youthful aspiration and technological advancement as crucial factors in India’s economic growth, citing advancements in sectors like space research and semiconductor manufacturing as evidence.

Ambani lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “visionary leader,” crediting his guidance for India’s digital transformation. He asserted that for AI to truly benefit the masses, a model similar to Jio’s disruption of the telecommunications market is essential. “We have to repeat a Jio for intelligence to be affordable and available to the common man,” he said.
Ambani also commended Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for his efforts to democratize AI through open-source initiatives.
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, echoed Ambani’s optimism about India’s AI future. He highlighted the partnership between Reliance and Nvidia aimed at building robust AI infrastructure in the country. “This is an extraordinary time,” Huang remarked, predicting a significant expansion in compute capacity in India by the end of the year.
Ambani expressed confidence in the collaboration, echoing his expectation for Nvidia to replicate Jio’s success in the telecommunications sector for AI.
