New Delhi: In a significant legal development, the Delhi High Court has issued an interim order barring Alpino Health Foods from publishing advertisements that disparage oats. This decision comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Marico Limited, the maker of Saffola Oats, alleging that Alpino’s marketing campaign was misleading and defamatory.
Marico contended that Alpino’s advertisements portrayed oats as “lifeless, boring, and impossible to finish.” The company argued that this negative portrayal was aimed at discrediting oats as a healthy food option and promoting Alpino’s own products.

The court, recognizing the potential harm caused by such misleading advertising, granted Marico’s plea for an interim injunction. This order effectively prevents Alpino from further disseminating these disparaging messages through any medium, including television, print, and digital platforms.
The legal battle between the two companies is set to continue, with both sides scheduled to present their arguments in court. The outcome of this case will have significant implications for the advertising industry and could set a precedent for future disputes involving misleading and deceptive marketing practices.
