New Delhi: Amazon has begun testing a new quick commerce service in India that promises to deliver groceries and other essential items within 15 minutes. The pilot program, which is currently underway in Bengaluru, is Amazon’s first major initiative in the country’s rapidly growing quick commerce market.
The service, which may be called Amazon Tez, is expected to launch later this month. It will put Amazon in direct competition with other quick commerce providers such as Zepto, Instamart, and Blinkit.
“Our strategy has always focused on ‘Selection, Value and Convenience’ and our vision is to build a large profitable business in India,” said Samir Kumar, Amazon’s new country manager for India. “So, while we focus on implementing our strategy to offer the largest selection at fastest speeds and greatest value to customers in every single pin-code across the country, we are excited to start a pilot to give our customers a choice to get their everyday essentials in 15 min or less.”
