New Delhi: The theme for the upcoming India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, “The Future is Now,” was unveiled yesterday by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region. This theme reflects India’s position at the forefront of technological advancements and IMC 2024’s role in bringing together global leaders to shape the future.
Focus on Collaboration and Innovation
Minister Scindia launched the IMC 2024 application and website, offering an interactive platform for registration. He emphasized the importance of technology in uniting people across India, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Highlighting the transformative power of technology, he stated, “Communications and networks will connect people from all corners of the country, from the first village to the central villages.”

IMC 2024 is envisioned as a global hub for innovation. Minister Scindia emphasized the theme’s significance, stating it represents India’s capabilities, achievements, and future potential. He pointed to the revolutionary changes in the telecom sector over the past decade, with India transitioning from a technology consumer to a supplier.
Celebrating Achievements and Looking Ahead
The Minister applauded various initiatives like the Telecom Act 2023, the PLI Scheme, and India’s rapid 5G rollout. He committed to finalizing the rules for the Telecom Act 2023 within the next 180 days.
The occasion also saw the conferment of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023 for outstanding contributions in areas like telecom innovation, skilling, services, manufacturing, and applications. Additionally, a Testing Scheme for Start-ups & MSMEs was launched, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NTIPRIT and IIT Jammu for cybersecurity training.
India’s Leadership in Telecommunications
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), delivered a special address highlighting India’s telecom prowess and success in the 5G revolution.
A Premier Digital Event
The 8th edition of IMC, Asia’s leading digital technology exhibition, will be held from October 15th at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. This year, IMC will be co-hosted by the DoT and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
Concurrent International Events
India will also host two prestigious international conferences alongside IMC 2024: the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024 and the Global Standards Symposium (GSS) 2024, scheduled from October 14th to 24th at the same venue.
