New Delhi: Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, has issued a public apology for the mistreatment of India Today journalist Rohit Sharma by Rahul Gandhi’s team in the United States. Pitroda expressed deep regret for the incident and assured that he would personally oversee an investigation into the matter.
The incident occurred during a Rahul Gandhi event in Dallas when Sharma asked Pitroda about Rahul Gandhi’s plans to raise the issue of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh with US lawmakers. Following the question, Sharma alleges that he was assaulted by Congress workers, who confiscated his mobile phone, deleted the interview, and confined him to a hotel room for 30 minutes.

Initially, Pitroda had stated that he was unaware of the incident. However, after learning the details, he condemned the actions of Rahul Gandhi’s team and emphasized his support for independent journalism.
