New Delhi: The News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA) on Monday elected Rajat Sharma, chairman of India TV, as its new president. Sharma takes over the reins from Avinash Pandey, the former CEO of ABP Network.
This development comes at a crucial time for the Indian television news industry, according to Sharma himself. He emphasized the need for the NBDA to function as a unified body in order to address the challenges currently faced by the sector.

“The TV news industry is at a critical juncture,” Sharma said. “The NBDA needs to work together collectively to advance the interests of this genre, which is operating under tremendous pressure.”
He further highlighted the importance of press freedom, stating, “It is our responsibility to ensure that we are allowed to operate in a fearless atmosphere to deliver free and fair news.”
The NBDA is the leading organization for news broadcasters and digital media in India. It comprises nearly all the major news networks in the country, making it a powerful voice for the industry.
