New Delhi: In a significant move, BBC Hindi has named Nitin Srivastava as its new editor, effective June 20, 2024. Srivastava, a seasoned journalist with nearly two decades of media experience, has been part of the BBC team for almost 18 years, currently holding the position of Senior Bilingual Correspondent.

The selection process for the editorial position was highly competitive, with over a thousand applicants vying for the role. Srivastava emerged as the top candidate after a rigorous series of tests and interviews.

Rajesh Priyadarshi, the outgoing editor of BBC Hindi, will transition to a new role as the head of editorial policy and compliance. This strategic shift aims to strengthen the editorial standards and compliance framework within the organization.

Hailing from Faizabad/Lucknow, Nitin Srivastava brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He began his media career with ‘Star News’ (now ABP News) as a reporter. In 2006, he joined BBC as a news producer/reporter. After a brief stint as India Editor for Microsoft News (msn.com), he returned to the BBC, where he has since served as a Senior Correspondent, covering a wide range of significant events both in India and internationally.

Srivastava’s educational background is as impressive as his professional journey. He completed his schooling in Lucknow and went on to earn a Master’s degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He further enhanced his academic credentials with an M.Phil in Diplomacy from JNU.

With Nitin Srivastava at the helm, BBC Hindi is poised to continue its tradition of delivering high-quality news and insightful analysis. His extensive experience and academic prowess are expected to bring fresh perspectives and strengthen the editorial team’s capabilities.
