New Delhi: The Global AI Conclave, a collaborative effort between Moneycontrol and CNBC-TV18, recently concluded its second edition in Bengaluru. The event, themed “From Hype to Impact,” brought together prominent figures in the AI field, including global leaders, innovators, and policymakers. The focus was on the transformative potential of AI across various sectors, including healthcare, governance, and urban planning.
India’s Role in the AI Revolution
Nalin Mehta, Managing Director of Moneycontrol, highlighted India’s significant role in the AI revolution, emphasizing the country’s substantial investment in the India AI mission. This sentiment was echoed by Santhosh Viswanathan, VP & MD of Intel India, who pointed to India’s unique strengths, such as abundant data and a culture of frugal innovation, as key drivers of its leadership in the AI space.

The conclave featured insightful discussions on leveraging AI to transform governance and key industries. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Former Union Minister of State, spoke about India’s vision for the next phase of governance, powered by AI and building on the success of Digital Public Infrastructure. Hemant Taneja, CEO & Managing Director of General Catalyst, emphasized India’s potential to become a global leader in AI, particularly in sectors like defense, healthcare, and energy.

Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, provided an update on India’s AI initiatives, highlighting the rapid progress being made and the focus on trusted technologies and advanced computing.
AI’s Impact on Healthcare and Traffic Management
The conclave also delved into specific applications of AI, such as its potential to reshape healthcare and address traffic congestion. A panel discussion featuring healthcare leaders explored the use of AI in diagnosis and treatment. M.N. Anucheth, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru Traffic), discussed how Bengaluru is using AI-powered traffic management systems to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
