New Delhi: Hockey fans across India are in for a treat as Sony Sports Network (SSN) has secured a three-year deal to broadcast the highly anticipated Hockey India League (HIL). Starting December 28, 2024, viewers can catch all the action live in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, on Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 3, and Sony Sports Ten 4 channels in both SD and HD.
This landmark agreement promises to bring the excitement of HIL to a wider audience than ever before. SSN’s commitment to multilingual commentary aims to engage fans from diverse regions, making the sport more inclusive and accessible.
“Hockey has witnessed a resurgence in India, fueled by the national team’s recent successes at the Olympics,” said Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer – Distribution & International Business and Head – Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India. “This partnership with HIL aligns with our commitment to providing a diverse sports portfolio for Indian fans. We aim to establish ourselves as the ‘Home of Hockey,’ just as we have with other major sports.”

The HIL Governing Committee expressed equal enthusiasm for the partnership. Chairperson Dilip Tirkey stated, “SSN’s expansive coverage will ensure that fans from every corner of the country can enjoy the league. This season is set to be bigger, better, and bolder, and we are confident that Sony’s unmatched telecast capabilities will elevate Indian hockey to new heights.”
Bhola Nath Singh, a member of the HIL Governing Committee, added, “Our focus has always been on promoting hockey to a wider audience, and this partnership with SSN allows us to achieve that goal. Their multilingual telecast plan will make the sport accessible to a larger audience, bringing them closer to the game.”
With this new broadcast deal, the upcoming HIL season promises increased viewership, fan engagement, and a significant boost for Indian hockey.
