New Delhi: Hockey fans across Asia are in for a treat as Sony Sports Network has secured the exclusive media rights to broadcast the upcoming Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2024. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 8 to 17 in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China.
The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has confirmed the participation of the continent’s top six teams, including defending champions India, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, China, and Malaysia. Hockey enthusiasts in India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka can catch all the action live on Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer at Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed excitement about the acquisition. “We are thrilled to bring this prestigious tournament to hockey fans across the region,” he said. “Audiences will witness the defending champions and Olympic Bronze medal winners, Team India, in action for the first time since the Paris 2024 Olympics.”

Fumio Ogura, President of the Asian Hockey Federation, echoed Kaul’s enthusiasm. “We are pleased to partner with Sony Sports Network to bring the Hero Asian Champions Trophy to a wider audience,” he stated. “This partnership will help elevate the profile of hockey and inspire the next generation of athletes.”
The tournament will kick off on September 8 with a single-pool format, featuring all six teams competing against each other. One of the most anticipated matches will be the clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on September 14. A total of 20 matches will be played, culminating in the final on September 17.
