In a heartfelt letter, Kanwal expresses gratitude and loyalty as he resigns after 22 years with the India Today Group.

New Delhi: In a significant development, Mr. Rahul Kanwal, News Director for India Today and Aaj Tak and Executive Director of Business Today, has resigned from the India Today Group. The announcement was made by T.V. Today Network Limited in a formal notice to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE).

The company disclosed that Mr. Kanwal tendered his resignation on April 3, 2025, to pursue other opportunities. T.V. Today Network Limited has accepted his resignation, and he will serve the notice period as per the company’s policy.  

In his resignation letter to Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief of TV Today Network, Mr. Kanwal reflected on his 22-year journey with the organization. He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities and growth he experienced, highlighting the company’s vibrant environment and his pride in its commitment to principled journalism.  

Mr. Kanwal, who joined the India Today Group at the age of 22, emphasized the profound impact the network had on his professional development. He conveyed his honor in leading the India Today and Aaj Tak newsrooms and acknowledged the influence of Mr. Purie, whom he regarded as a mentor and guide.

The announcement by T.V. Today Network Limited included details as per the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, along with Mr. Kanwal’s resignation letter.
