New Delhi: In a significant development that has disrupted television viewing for millions in Tamil Nadu, Disney Star has suspended all its channels to Thamizhaga Cable TV Communication (TCCL), a major cable operator in the state. The move comes after TCCL allegedly failed to clear its outstanding dues despite repeated reminders.
Popular channels under the Disney Star banner, including Star Vijay, Vijay Super, Vijay Takkar, Star Movies, National Geographic Channel, Star Suvarna, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Hungama TV, and other popular channels are no longer accessible to TCCL subscribers.
Disney Star, in a formal statement, expressed its disappointment over TCCL’s inability to fulfill its financial obligations. Despite engaging in multiple rounds of discussions, the cable operator has reportedly not settled the overdue payments. This, according to the broadcasting giant, left it with no option but to suspend its channels.

In response to the situation, Disney Star has advised affected subscribers to reach out to TCCL to seek a reduction in their subscription fees given the absence of several popular channels. The broadcaster has also suggested that viewers consider switching to alternative cable or DTH operators to continue enjoying their favorite Disney Star programs.
As the standoff between Disney Star and TCCL continues, industry experts believe that the dispute could have far-reaching implications for the cable television industry in India. The incident has brought to light the complex financial relationships between broadcasters and cable operators, and it remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved.
