British TV Presenter Michael Mosley Missing During Greek Holiday

Mosley has four children with his wife Clare Bailey Mosley, who is also a doctor, author and health columnist.

New Delhi: Renowned British television presenter Michael Mosley, widely recognized for promoting intermittent fasting for weight loss and overall health, has been reported missing while vacationing in Greece.

The search efforts commenced on Wednesday on the picturesque island of Symi, situated on the eastern side of the Aegean Sea, approximately 6.5 kilometers from Turkey, as confirmed by Greek authorities.

Mosley, aged 67, purportedly went for a walk on Wednesday afternoon during his holiday on Symi, a favored spot among hikers. His disappearance was brought to light when his phone was discovered at the place of accommodation, prompting his wife to alert the authorities, stated a police spokesperson to BBC News.

A comprehensive search and rescue mission involving police, firefighters, civil protection personnel, and volunteers, aided by resources like drones, a helicopter, and a sniffer dog, has been underway. Despite intense efforts, there has been no trace of Mosley yet.

Symi’s mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, expressed skepticism about Mosley’s presence in the focused search area, citing its small and populated nature. Papakalodoukas suggested Mosley might have strayed onto a different route or encountered an accident at sea.

On the day of his disappearance, the island witnessed scorching temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius at 3 pm. Concerns about his whereabouts have sparked an outpouring of support from colleagues, with BBC Radio 2 host Jeremy Vine expressing prayers for his safe return.

Who is Michael Mosley?

Mosley gained international recognition with his 2013 book, “The Fast Diet,” co-authored with journalist Mimi Spencer. This publication introduced the 5:2 diet, advocating intermittent fasting to achieve rapid weight loss by alternating between low-calorie intake for two days a week and healthy eating for the remaining five.

In addition to his literary contributions, Mosley is a familiar face on British television, appearing on popular shows like BBC’s “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor,” “The One Show,” and ITV’s “This Morning.” He has also ventured into documentary filmmaking, notably exploring topics related to diet and health.

His career has not been devoid of controversy, evidenced by the mixed reception to his 2021 series, “Lose a Stone in 21 Days,” which prompted criticism on social media and raised concerns among eating disorder charities.

Currently, Mosley hosts a BBC Radio 4 podcast titled “Just One Thing,” focusing on practical tips for enhancing health and well-being amidst busy schedules.

Born in India in 1957, Mosley relocated to England at the age of seven, later transitioning from a career in investment banking to medicine. Despite his medical qualifications, he shifted gears to pursue opportunities in the media industry, ultimately establishing himself as a prominent figure in health and lifestyle programming.

As the search continues for Michael Mosley, hopes remain high for his safe return, leaving colleagues, fans, and loved ones anxiously awaiting updates on this developing situation.
